Taking Steps To Trim Down With Fitflops
After her kids were born, ex-personal fitness trainer Marcia Kilgore found it difficult to make enough time to visit the gym and work out on a regular basis. Rather than just accept the fact that her lifestyle didn't allow for gym time, she decided to take steps and do something about it. Working in collaboration with the London South Bank University (LSBU) she developed an entire range of fitness sandals and shoe called Fitflops.
A special "microwobbleboard" sole, divided into three separate zones, is used in Fitflops. Each zone is constructed from materials of different densities, which helps to produce what the manufacturers refer to as a "microwobbleboard" effect. A high density material, which helps to cushion against shock while walking, is used in the heel sector. The mid-section uses a low density material and the toe section uses medium density material.
The end result is that, whilst walking normally, muscle activity is prolonged - by as much as 16%. The net effect of this is that you are trimming your legs and toning your buttocks with every step you take whilst wearing your Fitflops. Just walking around is like getting a workout for your lower body.
Normal walking in Fitflops can help you to maximize calf leg and buttock muscle activity, improve your posture, achieve better muscle tone and burn calories. In short, you can trim your legs and buttocks just by walking about normally - as you would be doing anyway.
The Fitflop range was released in the UK in 2006 - after extensive development work and trials at LSBU. They were a big success right from the start. Sales were so high that many people had to register on a waiting list in order to receive their Fitflops.
As you might expect from the name, the original range consisted chiefly of sandals - flipflops. However, in response to customer demand, the range was enlarged and now, not only is there a very wide selection of different colors and styles of sandals, but boots and clogs are also available. There are Fitflop styles suitable for both men and women and they are now on sale in the USA.
So, if like many other people, you struggle to find enough time for a trip to the gym, or even if you just find it difficult to motivate yourself to exercise, then maybe you should consider treating yourself to a pair of Fitflops. Wear them everyday instead of your normal shoes and you'll exercise your lower body and trim down without having to alter your daily routine.
